About the Order
Where Science Meets the Sip
Order of Mixology is more than just a collection of recipes; it is a dedicated resource for the home bartender who wants to understand the why behind the how. We believe that true mastery comes not from memorizing ingredients, but from understanding the fundamental principles of balance, temperature, and dilution.
The Mission
Our mission is simple: to strip away the pretension often associated with high-end mixology and replace it with practical, actionable knowledge. We are here to help you navigate the overwhelming world of bar tools, decode the chemistry of flavor, and build the confidence to serve your guests with pride.
Whether you are looking to perfect a classic Martini or experiment with your own creations, the Order provides the foundation you need to succeed.
The Chancellor
Cal Evans serves as the Chancellor of the Order of Mixology. By day, he is a computer programmer and educator, known for breaking down complex technical concepts into understandable lessons. By night, he applies that same analytical mind to the art of the cocktail.
Cal is not a professional bartender. He is an enthusiastic student of the craft who has spent years researching, testing, and tasting to separate the essential techniques from the theatrical fluff. His passion lies in teaching others that they, too, can create world-class drinks in the comfort of their own homes.
Fair warning: he has strong opinions about ice clarity.
Who This Is For
If you have ever bought a cocktail shaker that is now gathering dust, or if you have ever hesitated to make a drink for a guest because you weren't sure it would be "right," then the Order is for you.
We are here for the curious, the hospitable, and the adventurous. Whether you are a complete novice or a seasoned enthusiast looking to refine your technique, you will find a place at our bar.
Join the Order
There are no dues to pay and no secret handshakes to learn. To join the Order, you simply need a willingness to learn and a desire to share a good drink with good company.
Welcome to the Order of Mixology. Let’s make something remarkable.
